PORT ST JOE

The St Andrew Bay Pilots currently provide cross-licensed pilot service to the Port of Port St Joe and St Joseph Bay. The Port of Port St Joe is accessed by a 12 mile channel through St Joseph Bay and is located approximately 30 NM from the St Andrew Bay “SA” Seabuoy.

Due to the closure of the St Joe Company Paper mill in 1999 and constant shoaling around St Joseph Point commercial activity in Port St Joe has been almost zero. However, in 2021 the St Andrew Bay pilots were successfully able to bring in the first vessel to call Port St Joe in over 20 years. Commercial activity has recently increased due to two new port tenants: Twin Rivers Land and Timber and Eastern Shipbuilding. Twin Rivers Land and Timber is a company that is trying to establish a Biomass production and export trade. Eastern Shipbuilding has signed a long term lease with the port and plans to use the port and its dock as a finishing and sea trail yard for its new build vessels prior to delivery.

Please contact the St Andrew Bay Pilots to request pilot service to Port St Joe and please see the attached navigation guidelines for pilotage regulations for Port St Joe.
